Open Prawn Cocktail

The Prawn Cocktail has been popular in Great Britain from the 60's. It is both easy and quick to make. The traditional cocktail, made in a cocktail glass, was originally made by famous British television chef Fanny Cradock. This is our up-to-date version, every bit as good as the original

INGREDIENTS

2 Little gem lettuces
200g peeled prawns
2 tbsp mayonnaise
1tbsp Great British Proper Tomato Sauce
A small bunch of chives
A pinch of cayenne
A lemon
Sea salt and black pepper

 

PREPARATION METHOD

Mix the peeled prawns with the mayonnaise and the Great British Proper Tomato Sauce in a bowl and add a squeeze of lemon juice and season with salt and pepper.

Trim the base from your little gem lettuce and carefully remove the individual leaves. Spoon the prawn mixture into the leaves.

To finish the dish just add a pinch of cayenne, a sprinkle of grated lemon zest and finely chopped chives
